1. This 8/31/16 blog post focuses on the reformed Resource Family Approval (RFA) process.
During the first pilot phase, RFA was only piloted by counties, not foster family agencies (FFAs). In the new phase, California has selected five currently-licensed FFAs across the state to test the new procedures and provide feedback on what works and what doesn’t, and give recommendations for improvements.
The Family Care Network, which serves Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, has been selected as one of these five pilot agencies and will begin implementing the Resource Family Approval process in September. They were selected in large part because San Luis Obispo County was the first pilot county selected by the state, and was involved in RFA development for years.
