The nonprofit’s mission is
to assess, prevent, and treat child abuse in Santa Barbara County. Founded by a
local nurse in 1971, CALM opened its North County branch in 2010.
CALM provides outpatient
therapy at no cost for kids aged 18 and younger who have experienced physical,
sexual, or emotional abuse.
CALM receives referrals
from other providers and agencies, including Child Welfare Services. It is also
a contracted Medi-Cal provider for mental health care for kids up to age 6.
