On May 31 the Santa Barbara Independent ran a special issue on hunger and poverty in our County.
A brief intro story laid the groundwork. The cover story then discussed the CalFresh and school lunch programs, and noted our county's high child poverty rate and rising CalFresh caseload. This interview with Eric Talkin of the Foodbank discussed CalFresh and includes photos of the EBT card and Market Match tokens.
Two follow-up items appeared in the June 7 issue: a correction noting that adults receiving CalFresh do not have to work 30 hours per week, and a calendar-section sidebar item on summer food programs for kids.
